Tuesday 27th January

Yesterday was one of the most joyous days of my life, it was Chinese New Year! I woke up early and got ready to leave for my maternal grandparents house. But before we left home, we did some preparation. For example, snacks and flowers.

After that we headed to my grandparent house to gather and have breakfast. My grandfather bought 22 prata and 5 packets of bee hoon. We also had a chocolate cake that we couldn't finish on reunion dinner. I ate 4 prata and a slice of the chocolate cake. As there was alot of food, everyone asked my father to finish them. He ate 8 prata and 2 slices of chocolate cake. It nearly killed us to finish all the food, however we did it. The food was scrumptious.
Did i mention my grandmother was in hospital? She was in the hospital as she broke a bone in the spine area while changing the bed sheets for Chinese New Year.

After breakfast, we headed for Singapore General Hospital to visit my grandmother. Many people were there to visit their love ones too. I didn't know many people are warded during Chinese New Year.

We brought her favourite food, pizza. We watched her eat it happily. After she ate the pizza we bid her farewell and headed of for our annual visiting. I felt very sad for my grandmother.
We went to a few places and by evening, we headed for my aunts house to eat our dinner. We had lots of fun playing games together and stuff. The adults drank wine together. When it was very late, we headed home. At home, i opened all my 'hong bao' and counted all the money. This year, the money i collected was lesser. I guess it was because economic is bad.

My favourite red packet!
Its so cute.

Time to end, i have to go for visitings. CHIAO!

Saturday 17th January

Today was an extremely bad day! I woke up early in the morning to go to a new tuition i just started at bugis. Cause of that I had to skip lunch and starve for the rest of the day! I draged my lazy legs to the Mrt and borded the train. By the time i reached there, I was extremely late!

"What could go worse?" i wondered. Just then my teacher ask for the collection of our homework. "Homework? I am so dead." shivers were sent through all over my body at that thought! I was so emberressed as i was the only one who did not do the homework. I spent the rest of my day in tuition till 6. 30 pm. My day was burnt! Now for dinner, i thought of having mutton chop so i went to a hawker centre and ordered one mutton chop from the indian stall.

what i had in mind

Unfortunately, my mutton chop became like this, the northern India style

I was so angry i could kill a man! I was starving and my whole Saturday was gone in tuition!!!

I ordered fish and chips from the western stall, gobbled it down and took a cab home. On my way home, the taxi driver tried to go the longer way, thanks to my alertness, i told him to go by the shorter way. What kind of driver is he! His plate is SH ****.

But O, how bitter a thing it is to look into happiness through another man's eyes. - William Shakespeare.

Although i had a bad day, there was something good that happened, i exchanged number with a CHIJ St Nicholas girl. Hope that everyone would look at the good thing that happens on an extremely bad day!

Thursday 15th January

15th January was an impotant day for one of my father's childhood friend, Selvan as today is the day he was going to be married. After school, I went home, took a bath and headed straight to an indian temple in little india with my family, in which uncle Selvan would get married at. We were in a rush as i came back from school late today.

When we reached our destination, uncle Selvan's mom was so happy to see my dad and us. We immediately went into the temple and all of uncle Selvan's nieces and nephew were throwing flower at us. I felt really honoured. We waited in anxiety for the ceromony to start, I couldn't wait to see uncle Selvan. Did i mention that uncle Selvan's wife is a chinese! Amazing right? This is when this phrase comes in"Love Has No Limits".

Photo during a ceremony

The ceremony was long, however i remebered one incident, we had to take yellow rice and throw at the couples as a blessing. That was fun as i aimed for uncle Selvan's head. Haha! Look at this photo, its uncle Selvan putting a ring on the toe of his wife. Since then i have always wondered why toe?

Now they are having a wedding dinner with all the adults, while i am at home facing the computer racking my brain writing my post! Why can't i go! Well the least i could do is to wish them a long marriage and have a child earlier! Hope you are having fun now!!!

Its kind of late, see ya!

Wednesday 14th January

Hi all i am posting again! Today was a very fun and exhilarating day! We had an amazing race with our fellow juniors from 1A to welcome them to our very "interesting" programme RSP-Regional Studies Programme. If you guys don't know what we do, we study about the cultures of countries in south east asia and we learn Bahasa Indonesia. I love Indonesia's anthem!
Check it out!

Not to get carried away, I will continue about the race. Oh ya just before the race there was a tour around the RSP room. There were 8 groups and we started outside the RSP room all lined up, all excited and ready to start!!!

Then the race started and all the groups were given the clue to the 1st stop, the Parade Square. All the teams started running. My group was 1st and we had to choose either to jugle the sepak takraw or chapteh 5 times or spin the gasing.

My group immediately chose the spinning of gasing and within a try we did it! We were the 1st group to leave and headed for RSP room! We were superb and had the lead. We then head for the canteen and played bola bekel. Skills ensured my team the lead. See all of us supporting our member playing!

We were being closely chased by Alvin's team in this station, however lady luck was on our side and we continued the race still in the lead. We continued the whole game having the lead!
There was once when Alvin's team was behind us, i shouted at my team to run and i blocked them haha!!! It worked, we got quite a breather as i ran as fast as my legs could carry me to join my team.

We came in 1st place and my whole team had a group cheer. This race had my team bonded so well, we were laughing and talking after the race unlike other teams. They always accused us of cheating. Wow! Where has all the sportsmanship gone to i really wondered. This was a really enjoyable day! Hope all the sec 1 would enjoy RSP and keep the flag flying and the fire burning!

Wednesday 7th january

Today is the day when all my hard work throughout my english classes was to be rewarded. I have been waiting and anticipating for this day to arrive. I joined an english writing competition organised by Great Eastern which thousands took part in(including students from other schools) during the holidays. Only ten students will receive a cheque of $1000 and i was one of the ten students who would receive the award.

I had received calls, letters and emails from the writing competition organisers to inform me that i was invited to their prize presentation to receive my cheque, certificate and even a poster of my compo that they made! I was exhilarated to receive such a prestigious award.

After school, i rushed to meet my parents outside of school and we set off to the venue of my prize presentation award. I spotted nine of the other students with their parents. They all come from top schools such as Raffles institution. Did i mention i changed before the award ceremony?

We read each other's composition and i wondered why was my selected? Theirs was really superb! Anyway, after what might have seemed an eternity, it was time to receive our awards. Before my name was called, i was knock-kneed.

I was receiving my award from the organiser Mr Tan Hak Leh the managing director of Great Eastern(Singapore). I thought my name sounded nice with Victoria School. At that moment i was so proud of myself, i was representing Victoria school!

After receiving the award we took a group photo and then we had a buffet!!!
